About this deal

Using warm water with your soap nuts will allow them to last longer while still providing enough saponins to keep your home clean and fresh.

However, even though all of the above are very good reasons for using the Soap Nuts, unfortunately for me I just can’t spare the extra time in pre-treating the clothes before each wash. I use the soapnut liquid for washing my dishes and I like it a lot because it doesn’t strip the oil out of my hands or provoke dermatitis. I don’t have to wear gloves when I use soapnut washing up liquid. To make the task easier, I rinse the dishes as soon as they are used – even cold water and a bit of a rub with a cloth or my hand will remove most of the food traces. When you are ready to wash up, just run a bowl of hot water, add your soapnut liquid and the job is easy. Hand washing clothes; washing up liquid; surface cleaner, as a non-tox toilet cleaner and for cars. To scrub them, simply grab them in a fist and kind of grind them together for a few minutes. This uses the almonds themselves to clean the others! You can reuse soap nuts for about 10 laundry cycles before you need to replace them, although they may need to be replaced sooner if you do hot washes.Perhaps you have heard nature's own detergent being called a lot of different things? We have both heard the names soap berries, soap berries, soap nuts, soap nuts and even soap balls. So one must say that dear child has many names. But it is all the fruit of Sapindus Mukorossi that is being talked about. And that fruit is technically a berry, even though the dried shells may look a bit like nuts. In the same way we can add a few drops of an essential oil of our choice, since walnuts do not have any perfume. Friendly to people and animals with sensitive skin and people who suffer with trouble prone skin. People with skin trouble should never use chemical products on their skin. In Ayervedic medicine soapnuts recommended for people with skin troubles. There’s a simple solution to help give your whites a bit of razzle dazzle: along with the soap nuts, add 150ml of baking soda to your wash. Can you use soap nuts in HE washers?

However, one of the most well-known sources of saponins resides in the drupes of the Sapindus tree, more commonly known as Place your soapnut liquid in a squirty bottle (such as a reused mayonaise or ketchup container) and skirt some soapnut liquid into the toilet bowl after each flush and brush around with a toilet brush – this has an immediate deodorizing effect and helps to prevent the build up of limescale. Add the lid of the jar and store this liquid shampoo in the refrigerator when not in use. This liquid cleaner should last around 2 weeks, but you can also freeze it to elongate its lifespan if needed. The next morning when I went to gather the clean laundry, everything was clean and didn’t smell like anything. (Except for the smell of the previous owners’ fabric softener. Lydia doesn’t own a single article of new clothing, thanks to two thrift stores within walking distance of our home and some generous friends. Consequently, her laundry contains a multitude of fragrances. Fabric softener scents take several washes to erase, I’ve found. They’re WAY harder to eliminate than diaper stink). Soap nuts will release some saponins in cold water, but they work best in warm or hot water. If you’re running a cold wash cycle, soak your soap nuts in hot water for a few minutes first to release the saponins and ensure that your laundry is cleaned effectively.
