Praise and prayer

This takes place on the last Sunday of the month in St Boniface Centre and, as the name implies, usually consists of lively, modern praise and worshipful prayer. A candle, a cross, flowers or an open Bible, (or a combination of these), may be used as a focal point for worship. Seating is usually in a semi-circle rather than in rows so that all can feel included in this friendly time of worship.

A small worship group using guitars, keyboard and sometimes other instruments provide the musical accompaniment and also help to set the atmosphere for the service as people arrive.

On occasions, this time of praise and prayer will take the form of a quieter more reflective service, in the style of Taizè or Iona.

It may be led by a member of the clergy, a lay reader or a group of people, members of a Bible Study Group for example.

As from January 2008 this service will be known as 'Word and Worship'.

There will be three Healing Services in the year, and others will have a central teaching theme.
The first three topics of the year will link with the Lent/Easter season; and the second four will link with the post-Easter season, and a reminder of our calling and sending by God. The clergy will lead the teaching part, assisted by others in the leading of the praise service.
The service will last for an hour.
We hope that these teaching services will help to nurture people in their faith.
