House GroupsThe Parish of Chandler's Ford currently has a variety of House Groups. Some groups meet weekly, others fortnightly and some monthly for fellowship, prayer, Bible study and discussion. The groups follow their members' interests with support from the clergy. The different groups each have their own particular interests. Some groups study the Bible more formally, others prefer to discuss topical issues from a Christian viewpoint and others focus on prayer. Each session lasts about 2 hours, either starting or finishing with coffee and biscuits and most of the groups also meet socially in the summer and at Christmas. New members are always welcome and we hope to establish new groups as a follow up to our Emmaus courses. Contact: The Parish Office or one of the Church Officials for more information. EdenEden is a newly formed house group who meet fortnightly. We are following a well known Christian programme and working to deepen our understanding of Christian living and discipleship. New members most welcome! Contact: May on 8048 7707. ExchangeWe meet on the first Sunday in each month from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm. We start and finish with prayers and support our exchanges with reference to the Bible. We are not, however, a Bible-reading group, we are much more of a debating group and our style is very informal. We are beautifully balanced – both sexes, all ages, a variety of occupations and half of us worship at St Martins and half at St Boniface. New blood very welcome! Contact: Heather on 023 8026 5045 GatewayThis group meets on alternate Tuesdays at 7.30pm, at the home of one of the group members (of which there are currently 10). The group mainly engages in Bible study, but also studies other books and courses of a religious nature. The members take it in turn to "lead", but there is no pressure to lead if anyone is reluctant to do so. The group also meets socially twice per year with the "Open Door" house group. Contact: Gill or Geoff on 023 8026 9341 Home GroupWe meet fortnightly on Thursday evenings in a member's home (where possible). We start at 8.00 pm with tea/coffee and a chat, followed by study and finish with tea/coffee and a chat at approximately 10pm! Several members are happy to lead Bible study and take it in turns to do so. We decide together which part of the Bible we wish to study. We have eight regular members and would welcome new members of any age. Do ring Jean if you would like to know more. Contact: Gill on 023 8025 2322 OasisWe are a group of ten people of different ages who meet fortnightly on a Wednesday evening, during term-time, for Bible study, prayer and fellowship. We rotate the venue and share leadership as much as possible. We study a range of subjects, from books of the Bible to topical issues and we support each other in prayer. Contact: Jenny on 023 8027 1457 Open DoorOpen Door originally started as one group with Gateway, but as the numbers increased, a decision was taken to split into two smaller groups, both of which ran on the same subject. However, after a short while interests varied and we chose separate subjects. The emphasis today is still on Bible Study and for
the main part these have been taken from the New Testament. Contact: Kay or Frank on 023 8026 8164
